Bài viết mẫuThe fuel we use daily do not only come from fossils. Biofuel, a relatively more sustainable resource, comes from corn. Corn is harvested from farmlands, and stored for a period of time. It is then milled into fine grains to be ready to be processed. Milled corn then advances to the cooking stage, which lasts for four hours, to break down complex sugars into simple monosaccharides. Water is added in the process to dissolve the sugars. The most important procedure in producing ethanol is fermentation. It lasts for approximately 48 hours for the sugars in corn to be fermented by yeast. The next step is to filter the liquid, which is ethanol, from the undissolved solids. The ethanol has to be purified before use. In 5 hours of purification, the Ethanol is then stored and transported.
