It is often argued that there are positive effects to countries who host an universal sports tournament. In contrast, others believe that the downside of holding said event outweighs the contributions. As far as I am concerned, I agree with the statement on holding sports contest worldwide is beneficial to the society especially in the case of developing nations. There are two benefits that may attribute to nations arranging sports events . First of all, the popularity of the country may be displayed to the world, traditions and cultures are significantly broadcasted by the media and moreover, the economic advantage should not be underestimated. For instance, Olymptics, international Sports contest held every four years, all countries are dying to grab the chance to host it because it is a way to make money. In the case of Japan, they were able to gain a big fortune by arranging the Olympics many years ago. They make billions in just a day. Moreover, others frequently argued that there are more disadvantages in holding international tournaments for the public authorities would allocate most of funds on city infrastructures and sports complex constructions rather than educations or health care. In addition, after the event, the used environment are unbelievably chaotic and dirty. Lastly, some facilities built specifically for the event are no longer in use because they are either too expensive to maintain or too high standard for small sports practices. Take Taiwan as an example, the "Universiade" also known as the "World University Game" was held in Taipei, the government spent so much budget on creating a sports complex which could meet the standards of international regulations. Unfortunately, after the event, all athletes and participants left around the area, and yet, it has not been used since the Universiade ended. In conclusion, there are pros and cons whether gathering a universal sports events are valuable for the country or not. They aid the financial development for some nations and also, gain fame by being known to the rest of the world. Despite the negative effects of chaos and waste of money building amenities for one time use, I still strongly believe that it is better for countries to host international sports events.
