The picture demonstrates the process of olive oil production. Overall, it is clear that the production of olive oil goes through 7 stages, from the picking step to the last step, which is the storage and sale. Also, it involves the use of some equipment. Initially, the ripe olives are harvested from the trees by farmers. Secondly, they are transported to a rinsing machine where they are rinsed with cold water. Consequently, with the assistance of a belt, they are moved to a smashing machine that crashes the olive to separate the fruit from seeds. Then the olives are grounded into olive paste while the olive stones are removed. Moving on to the next step, some performed bags are used to be filled with olive paste. After that, they are placed into a pressing machine where the excess water will be separated from the oil. Finally, the last stage is represented by transporting the oil to the storage where it can be sold.

These days more and more people buy excess food from a supermarket or restaurant. Therefore this food is then wasted. In this essay, I will talk about the negative effects of throwing away food and, what should be done in order to decrease waste food. In most cases, when people order food in a restaurant, they get more than what they actually need. Similarly, it happens when people buy from a shop and, the pile of extra food goes off. It is sad to see that a lot of food is wasted even before reaching the plate, due to overbuying. However, many are the reasons for this issue, such as lack of awareness of the problem and solution, inadequate supply chain infrastructure, overproduction. Wasting tons of food can affect the economy badly. Therefore there might be a massive economic loss and, the lost consumer surplus resulting from our waste food pushes up the price of food Also, waste food can contribute to climate environmental issues. When food is composted, carbon dioxide is released, while when it is dumped in landfills, methane is released which, heats our planet more than carbon dioxide. In addition, poverty increases because the food waste could be collected and give to charity. Many are the solutions to overcome, mitigate and come up with new ideas to reduce the waste food issue. We should be more responsible for the quantity and the choice we made before buying food. Also, re-use the seeds from fruits, for instance, can be a solution. It saves money. Furthermore, store food weel and keep leftovers for another meal is a sensible choice. In conclusion, thanks to the new technology inventions to reduce the wasted food, I reckon that it is very likely that this issue can get better. I am banking on the waste food situation getting better over the years.
